Our commitment:

1. To strive to continually improve and perfect our skills as surgeons and build on a foundation of excellent training and education.

2. To maintain an office and surgical facility dedicated to excellence with the highest degree of licensure and accreditation and with all the necessary equipment, staffing, and support to provide a level of safety for our patients equal to, or surpassing, that of any other surgical facility.

3. To provide a working environment for our staff conducive to personal and professional growth and one in which service excellence receives the highest priority. This involves acknowledging the value of the contributions of every member of our staff. To strive for an office environment which balances friendliness and professionalism to the ultimate benefit of patients and staff.

4. To place the needs of our patients above personal considerations, financial concerns, or convenience.

5. To maintain a continual degree of accountability to ourselves, our patients, and our staff to ensure that we do not deviate from our mission. We will never be satisfied to just "get by" in any area of our practice but will strive to be the best in all areas.

Goals:

The goal of Bosshardt & Marzek Plastic Surgery Associates is nothing less than to provide a level of care in the specialty of plastic surgery equal to, or surpassing, that of the finest practices anywhere in the country. While acknowledging that perfection, while a worthy goal, is not attainable in any human endeavor, we will none-the-less never cease to strive to be as close to perfect as possible. It is our goal that every patient leave this practice satisfied not only with the quality of the care provided, but pleased with the environment in which it was rendered. Our efforts on behalf of our patients will commence with the first telephone call and/or the moment the patient walks through our door and will not cease until they are finally discharged. Everything will be done with the overall well being of the patient in mind. We will maintain our accountability to our patients and among ourselves through a continual process of quality assessment and review. This will include inspection and examination by outside agencies, soliciting patient reviews of the care they have received and periodic in-house evaluations of ourselves and our staff to see where we can improve.

Our patients are more than a statistic, an interesting surgical challenge, or a source of revenue. They are unique individuals, priceless in the eyes of their maker, and deserving of the best that we have to offer. They have entrusted us with their health and well being and we will always take this awesome responsibility with the utmost seriousness. We will always counsel our patients and offer services and/or surgery taking into account, to the best of our ability, the whole person.

The confidence of our patients is the highest compliment that they can pay us and we will never knowingly do anything that would shake that confidence.

History:

Bosshardt & Marzek Plastic Surgery Associates was founded in 1989 by Dr. Richard Bosshardt as the Plastic Surgery Center of Lake County. It was the first full time practice in the specialty of plastic surgery in Lake County, Florida. Dr. Bosshardt was joined in 1993 by Dr. Peter Marzek.

In twelve years, the practice grew from one doctor and two employees in a tiny office in downtown Eustis, Florida to a bustling clinic with two doctors and twelve full time staff operating out of the Lakeside Medical Building on Lake Junietta in Tavares, Florida. The new office contains over 5400 square feet and houses a state licensed ambulatory surgery center; the only facility of it's kind in central Florida. There is also a dedicated skin care clinic with an aesthetician and clinical nurse to provide for state-of-the-art skin care and other procedures to our patients.

There have been many "firsts" for Bosshardt & Marzek Plastic Surgery Associates. The practice was the first to provide full time cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery services in Lake County to area residents. Dr. Bosshardt was the first to perform immediate and delayed breast reconstruction following mastectomy for breast cancer and the first surgeon to perform microsurgical tissue transfer in Lake County. Dr. Marzek performed the first successful finger replantation in the county. In 1995 the practice introduced pulsed C02 laser skin resurfacing and, in the year 2000 became the first to offer ultrasound-assisted liposuction. The practice has offered dedicated skin care to patients and clients with an aesthetician on staff since 1992. Bosshardt and Marzek were the first to provide permanent hair reduction with the Coherent Lightsheer diode laser in Lake County.

One of the major milestones in the history of the practice was the construction of the new office, with it's own surgical suite, in Tavares, on beautiful Lake Junietta. While other practices also have their own surgical suites ours was the first, and to this day, the only, practice in central Florida to provide it's own private, outpatient surgery facility dedicated to plastic surgery which is fully stated licensed and approved by Medicare and most insurers. This level of certification is unmatched and assures patients that they are having their surgery in the safest and best equipped facility possible; equal to or surpassing any other ambulatory surgery centers elsewhere. In addition to assuring the highest quality patient care, this licensed surgical suite provides our patients with the confidentiality, convenience, and reduced costs they deserve.

As the specialty has grown and developed, so have we. We have always stayed abreast of new technologies and procedures and have only offered these when convinced of their safety, effectiveness, and real benefits to patients. We have stringently avoided doing anything which might reflect in any way poorly on what we feel is a truly honorable surgical specialty and one to which we have dedicated our professional lives.

Since it's inception, the doctors at Bosshardt & Marzek Plastic Surgery Associates have maintained privileges at both Leesburg Regional Medical Center and Florida Hospital Waterman and have been active on the medical staff at both hospitals. Both of our doctors have served on numerous hospital committees, and as officers. Drs. Bosshardt and Marzek have both served as chief of the department of surgery at Florida Hospital Waterman. Dr. Bosshardt is a past president of the Lake County Medical Society. They have provided emergency plastic surgery care to residents and visitors of Lake County since 1989. Over the years, the practice has drawn patients from out of state and from as far away as the middle east and Latin America. While expanding our horizons we have always strived to provide excellent care to residents of Lake and surrounding counties.

Many plastic surgery practices have drifted away from reconstruction to become providers of strictly cosmetic services. As we have evolved we have remained true to our commitment of providing comprehensive services both in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. A portion of our time is devoted to care of the indigent and non-insured who need reconstructive surgery and we have also provided plastic surgery services to patients overseas through medical missions. We feel this is the best way that we can give back to our community both locally and internationally.

In 2001 the practice name was changed from Plastic Surgery Center of Lake County to Bosshardt & Marzek Plastic Surgery Associates. This was done to reflect our growth and the fact that we draw patients from an area much larger than Lake County alone, and to emphasize that it is our doctors who set us apart from other practices elsewhere, both individually and as a team.

While proud of our history and growth we remain committed to continued improvement in our services and will always strive for excellence in all aspects of patient care. We feel that we have a wonderful foundation on which to build and that the best is yet to come for our us and our patients.
