Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing
Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing offers both superior results and little to no downtime. The fractional microbeams penetrate deep into the epidermis and dermis for effective long-term results. This fractional, non-ablative approach stimulates quick healing with no long term redress.
Fractional non-ablative treatments are also easier than other technoligies, which can involve long prep and clean up time. Treatments are quick and convenient to your schedule.
How does Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing work?
The Palomar Lux1540™ Fraction Non-Ablative Laser handpiece delivers light in a array of narrow, focused "microbeams," to create columns of coagulation within the skin. These columns initiate a natural healing process that forms new, healthy tissue. This results in improved skin appearance.
What areas can I have treated?
Fractional non-ablative treatments can be performed on most areas of the body, including the face, chest, arms, and hands.
What makes fractional non-ablative treatments different from other skin resurfacing methods?
Some skin resurfacing devices, such as CO2 lasers, use the ablative method, which removes the epidermis and some of the dermis. While good results are eventually seen, the drawbacks include red and raw skin, down time and a risk of infection for several weeks after treatment.
Our device uses the non-ablative method: sending light pulses into the epidermis and dermis, while leaving the stratum corneum in place. This allows quick recovery.
Are these treatments painful? What should I expect after treatment?
You may experience redness, warmth, swelling or tightness in the treated area, which typically fades within a few hours of treatment. The skin may often have a pinkish tone for 5-7 days. Generally, you can receive a treatment and go back to work or to other activities without any recovery time.
With our "easier on the skin" fractional non-ablative process, the light pulses are confined to narrow columns in the skin, allowing for a quick-healing process. Some people notice positive changes in skin appearance within a few days.
A series of treatments at 3-6 week intervals may be required to achieve the desired results. Drs. Bosshardt and Marzek will be able to give you more information and the fractional non-ablative skin resurfacing treatment and expected outcomes.
