Before
This patient was happy with her breasts until she had children. She became "huge" while nursing, up to a D/DD cup. Now she was a 34 B but felt "deflated" and saggy. She was concerned about breast augmentation because a friend had multiple complications from this surgery. This patient has several bouts of mastitis while nursing. I counseled her extensively and made it clear that although complications are uncommon, they can occur for breast augmentation as with any surgery. She elected to proceed. She desired more fullness but did not want to be too large.
After
She underwent breast augmentation with Mentor round, smooth, moderate profile saline implants placed in a dual plane (partly under the muscle, partly under the breast itself). The implants are 350 cc and both are overfilled to 375 cc. Her postoperative bra size is a 34 C/D cup. Her breasts look and feel almost entirely natural. She retained essentially normal sensitivity in both breasts although the left has occasional periods of mild numbness that seem to be gradually going away. She is a great example of the great resulta you can get with saline implants and careful patient selection. She is a very happy patient and so am I.
