Before
This young lady desired larger breasts, as so many do. Her bra size was a between an A and B cup. She had a visible asymmetry in that her left breast was somewhat tighter and constricted in the lower half, and slightly smaller compared to the right. It is important to recognize such differences since patients often do not notice them before surgery, but are very focused on their breasts after surgery and often remark any differences. I tell them that implants have a limited ability to correct for differences in shape. Placing different size implants is a double-edged sword in that the larger implant will affect the smaller breast much more than the smaller implant in the larger one. She had little nipple sensation preoperatively after nursing her children.
After
She is shown 6 months after augmentation with Allergan Natrelle Inspira Style SRM smooth, round implants placed under the muscle. Her implants are both 485 cc. These are large implants for someone who started out so small and will dramatically change the breasts. As you can see, her asymmetry persists and may, in fact, be slightly more noticeable. Implants can improve some assymetries, e.g. size differences and worsen others, e.g. shape differences, as in this case. Despite this, she looks great. She is very happy and her new bra size is DD/DDD cup. Both are exquisitely soft and feel almost entirely natural.
