Before
This delightful young woman desired breast augmentation after breast feeding two children. She had desired this all of her adult life because of her small size, 34 A cup, and asymmetry. Her goals were to look as natural as possible and to be better proportioned.
After
I performed her breast augmentation with Mentor smooth, round, high profile saline implants placed under the muscle. Her implants are 290 cc and are filled to 310 cc. Her postoperative bra size is a B/C cup depending on the bra. She retained normal sensitivity in both breasts. She is shown 6 months after the surgery. Even though all implants do is add volume, this alone has significantly improved her asymmetry, which is barely noticeable on casual inspection. She was delighted and so was I.
She returned to see me six years later to discuss what to do about her implants. She discovered a previously unknown family history of breast cancer. Her breasts looked and felt perfect, exactly as they had six years earlier. Her bra size was now a C cup. She remained totally satisfied with her breasts. I told her there was not need to replace implants merely because of their age and recommended she simply follow her primary physician's recommedation for routine cancer screening. I recommend implant patients have their implants checked by a plastic surgeon every two years. I do not ever charge my implant patients for these visits or for any evaluation related to their implants. Breast implants have never been linked to breast cancer and there are no cases reported of breast implant-associated lymphoma in patients who have only ever had smooth implants.
