Before
This patient was diagnosed with cancer in her right breast. She wished to have reconstruction at the same time as her mastectomy. Because she was very pendulous, I recommended using the same incision I use for a breast lift, for the mastectomy and save the nipple/areola complex as a graft. Her bra size was a 36 C/D.
After
The surgery was done in two stages. At the first, the surgeon removed her right breast and did a beautiful job, leaving me with a very nice situation for the reconstruction. I inserted a tissue expander in order to slowly create space for a permanent implant. The second stage took place about three and a half months later. This is relatively quick, but she expanded beautifully. At the second stage, I removed the expander and place a 600 cc Mentor MemoryGel smooth, round gel implant. I also performed a breast lift on the left for symmetry. She is shown 6 months after this. It is hard to tell the reconstructed breast from the breast that just had a lift. This is one of those situations where everything worked perfectly. It is a wonderful result and I wish all of mine turned out this well. It is very nice when they do.
