This very attractive woman presented with two primary complaints. She did not like her heavy, droopy upper eyelids, which she felt made her look older and tired. She had a history of fairly severe acne scarring of her cheeks. She was a good candidate for an upper eyelid blepharoplasty (tuck) and a skin peel using 50% TCA (trichloroacetic acid). TCA is a wonderful peeling agent, very safe, and effective for someone like her. I explained that no procedure exists that will eliminate acne scars. We can only hope to soften them.

After

She is shown 4 months after both procedures. Her eyes look more open and youthful and her skin is visibly smoother, with a nice glow. This is a nice result with TCA. For more improvement, a second peel could be done after 3 months from the first. The nice thing about TCA is that it does not permanently lighten the skin like more aggressive chemicals and lasers can.
