Before

This lady was once morbidly obese. She underwent successful bariatric surgery and lost 212 lb. She has maintained this for around her present weight of 190 lb. She came in because of the extreme excess skin of her abdomen which was both uncomfortable and caused her chronic rashes under the apron of skin.

After

I performed an extended abdominoplasty/panniculectomy on her in the hospital as an outpatient. A portion of this was regarded as cosmetic and a portion was reconstructive because of her symptoms (her insurance paid a total of $1300 for this massive procedure!) I removed a total of 2200 grams (~4 lb, 13 oz) from her abdomen. Despite the magnitude of the surgery, she had a totally smooth and uncomplicated postoperative course. She described the operation as “life changing”.
